After school, children can explore the arts of the African Diaspora and other cultures through Artreach, a drop-in after school program. This is more than an arts and crafts camp! The curriculum includes not only classes in drawing and painting, but also in other media such as print making, computer arts, clay & pottery and photography.
The Arts Center frequently recruits visiting artists to share new perspectives on art with our Artreach students. These special guests show the children that art is a valuable channel of expression and can be a life-long hobby, and can even become a career.
Artreach is open to all school-aged children Monday through Friday from 3 to 5:30pm. Activities include arts & crafts, field trips, special workshops and daily snacks. Registration is required, and the fee is $5.00 per year (this is a one time fee good for membership in all programs offered at the Hamilton Hill Arts Center). This and other Hamilton Hill Arts Center Programs are partially funded by a Community Development Block Grant, New York State Council on the Arts, and The Schenectady County Youth Bureau.
